Staurolite is known as the Fairy Cross. it was believed to be formed from teh tears the fairies shed when they heard the news of Christ's death. Traditionally this protective stone is a talisman for good luck. Staurolite enhances and strengthens rituals and is used in white magic ceremonies.

Herbs

Ground Ivy

Parts Used: Aerial parts

Collection: the flowering stems should be collected between April and June.

Ground Ivy may be used to treat catarrhal conditions, whether in teh sinus region or in the chest. It will aid in the healing of coughs and bronchitis, but it works better if combined with other remedies. Where the catarrh has built up in the middle ear and is causing noises (tinnitus), Ground Ivy can prove most beneficial. The astringency of the herb helps in the treatment of diarrhea and hemorrhoids. It may also be used to treat cystitis. 

Infusion: pour a cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoonful of the dried leaves and let infuse for 10-15 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day.

Guaiacum

Parts Used: Heartwood

Collection: The resin of the wood exudes naturally and is often collected and used as such: otherwise the heartwood itself is cut into small chips. The tree is found in South America and the Caribbean

Guaiacum is a specific for rheumatic complaints. It is especially useful where there is much inflammation and pain present. It is thus used in chronic rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis, particularly when an astringent is needed. It will aid in the treatment of gout and may be used as a preventative of recurrence in this disease. 

Decoction: put 1 teaspoonful of the wood chips in a cup of water, bring to boil, and simmer for 15- 20 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day
