Collection: The bark is collected in the spring by stripping it from young trees. The leaves are collected in June and July
The leaves of this tree, which gives us that most pleasant fruit, the peach, provide a useful soothing demulcent to aid the digestive tract in conditions such as gastritis. It has a tradition of also being used in whooping cough and bronchitis.
Infusion: pour a cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoonful of the bark or 2 teaspoonfuls of the leaves and let infuse for 10 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day.
