Common Name: Crimped Gill




Width of cap: 3/8 - 1 in
Cap: Fan-shaped or shell-shaped with incurved, lobed margin; upper surface tomentose, concentrically zoned with yellow-orange or ochre or reddish brown bands, paler on the margin; Flesh thin, flexible, becoming hard and brittle when dry.  
Gills: Underside of cap with moderately well-spaced, branching gill-like or vein-like folds or wrinkles; whitish to pale ochre.
Stalk: A rudimentary extension of the cap, or lacking
Spore Print: White
Occurrence: Gregarious in overlapping clusters on dead branches and trunks of broad-leaved trees, especially beech and birch; saprobic; year-round; occasional
Edibility: NOT EDIBLE
