OOO Mushroom

Common Name: Decorated Pholiota




Width of cap: 1-2 1/2 in
Cap: Broadly conical to convex with an incurved margin at first; surface densely covered with long, pointed, and recurved rusty brown scales; Flesh White
Gills: Adnexed, close; white; gill edges uneven.
Stalk: Equal or swollen at the base, often curved; colored like the cap and densely scaly from the base up to a flaring, shaggy ring zone, smooth and white above.
Spore Print: White
Occurrence: Solitary or in small groups on decaying logs, stumps, and fallen branches of broad-leaved trees; saprobic; fall; occasional
