There are many ways to store your crystal ball (Mine is on display on my bookshelf to soak up knowledge). In some traditions crystal balls were considered to be moon-magnetic and were to be kept wrapped in black cloth. They never could have sunlight on them or be touched by anyone other than the one using the sphere. It was believed that the sphere was touched or mishandled once that it was finished for good.
The color of cloth you wrap your sphere in is important. many traditions suggest black; they believe that black is the color that will most effectively block any other vibrations from influencing your ball. Others consider black as representing the unknown, the subconscious, deep space, or infinity. White is another good color to use. Yellow represents enlightenment, many feel it is appropriate to use.
It is recommended that you keep it covered if you are not using it. It is also best to wrap it in natural fibers.
You may want to store your ball wrapped or unwrapped on an altar or in a special place that you've set up. That influence of purity and devotion will permeate it and carry into your work with it. It also gives protection against intrusion. You may also want to include something with your crystal ball that has a special meaning or power for you.
Any crystal ball that you have set aside for special use shouldn't be touched by others and should definitely be wrapped. You don't want to expose it to any other influences that might interfere with its special function. After you have used your crystal ball for a while and are more sensitive to it, you can expose it to others, if you like, or even let them handle it. Just be sure to clear it before you use it and any time that it seems "clogged."
How you store your ball is up to you, because ultimately it's the strength of your focused intention that counts the most.
