Cap: Hemispheric to convex at first, becoming broadly convex to nearly flat; surgace dry, densely covered with dark reddish brown erect scales or granules, fading to yellow-brown with age; margin often ragged with remnants of a partial veil; Flesh yellowish
Gills: Adnexed, crowded; whittish at first, becoming ochraceous to tawny; gill edges crenulate.
Stalk: Equal, densely covered from base up with scales that terminate in a slightly flaring fibrous ring near the apex; colored like the cap or paler on teh scaley portion, whitish and lacking scales above the ring.
