Collection: Collect root in teh fall of its first year. Cut longitudinally to speed drying if thick, Collect leaves in June. 

Actions: Carminative, Antispasmodic, expectorant, diuretic, diaphoretic

Useful for coughs, bronchitis, and pleurisy especially when accompanied by fever, colds, or influenza. Leaves can be used as a compress in inflammations of the chest. The essential oil aids in intestinal colic and flatulence. As a digestive agent it stimulates appetite. Also has been shown to ease rheumatic inflammation and in cycstitis, it acts as a urinary antiseptic
